La première exposition d’Ora Ïto à la galerie Podgorny, Grammatology, Part One revient sur la grammaire de son langage volumique qui constitue l’essence de sa pratique.
Ligne, cercle, carré, rectangle... Les œuvres d’Ora Ïto sont composées des formes géométriques les plus élémentaires. Constituées de plaques d’aluminium noires ou colorées, fixées sur une base composite blanche, elles déclinent, élément par élément, son vocabulaire formel. Leur sobriété minérale et géométrique, leur monochromie vive renvoient tant à une pureté moderne qu’à un détournement pop qui sont les deux visages de l’univers visuel d’Ora Ïto.

Ces formes sans fonction, pour détourner le « Form follows function » des modernistes, avec leurs rondeurs minimalistes et leurs lignes claires, sont des silhouettes qui évoquent aussi bien des interfaces numériques que matérielles. À travers ce corpus, Ora Ïto révèle au spectateur l’alphabet qui fonde son langage, qu’il exprime depuis 25 ans à travers le design industriel et l’architecture. Il explore et participe à l’émergence d’une esthétique du XXIe siècle, et retranscrit notre contemporanéité, où les frontières entre les mondes physique et digital sont mouvantes et en évolution constante.

Ora Ïto’s first exhibition at Podgorny Gallery, Grammatology, Part One, retraces the grammar of his volumetric language which constitutes the essence of his practice. Line, circle, square, rectangle… Ora Ïto’s works are composed with the most elementary geometric forms. Made of black or colorful aluminium plates, fixed in a composite white base, they decline his formal vocabulary element by element. The mineral and geometric sobriety of the plates together with their vivid monochromy pave the way to a modernist purity and a pop detour - the two faces of Ora Ïto's visual universe.
These forms without function -to twist the modernists’ saying “Form follows function”- with their minimalist roundness and clear lines, are silhouettes evoking both digital and material interfaces. Via this body of work, Ora Ïto reveals the alphabet of his own language to the viewer that he has been using for 25 years in industrial design and architecture. While exploring and participating in the emergence of a 21st century’s new aesthetic, he retranscribes our contemporary era where the boundaries between the physical and digital world are constantly shifting and evolving.
