ETIENNE VIARD

Ancre 1
Étienne Viard was born in France in 1954. He lives and works between Paris and the Vaucluse.
Inspired by the minimalist movement, Viard reduces the plastic vocabulary to one of its most essential elements: the line.
This line fragmented, stretched, curved, elongated, or straight rests on a fragile balance. Deeply influenced by natural forms and mineral undulations, he pursues a dynamic approach defined by a state of constant and precarious tension.
Recognized as a “sculptor of steel,” Étienne Viard works primarily with Corten steel, whose surface corrosion effect directly engages the installation with its environment.
