L’univers de Noel Fielding est un terrain de jeu où l’imagination enfantine rencontre l’absurde surréaliste. Au Royaume-Uni, il s’est fait connaître avec la série télé culte The Mighty Boosh (1998–2009), co-créée avec Julian Barratt, mêlant comédie, musique et un surréalisme visuel saisissant. Il a ensuite créé Noel Fielding’s Luxury Comedy (2012–2014), une série télé encore plus psychédélique et expérimentale, tout en poursuivant une carrière de stand-up à travers le monde, se produisant sur des scènes prestigieuses telles que l’Opéra de Sydney ou l’O2 Arena de Londres, avant de toucher un public encore plus large en co-animant The Great British Bake Off, l’émission culinaire la plus populaire du pays.
Ayant étudié les beaux-arts à l’Université de Croydon auprès de Dexter Dalwood, finaliste du Turner Prize, il a depuis exposé ses œuvres dans des lieux prestigieux tels que le Royal Albert Hall, la Saatchi Gallery, Somerset House et la Tate Liverpool, entre autres.
Aujourd’hui reconnu mondialement, son univers télévisuel et comique, peuplé de personnages étranges, naïfs et fantasques, se transpose sur ses toiles avec la même liberté : explosions de couleurs, formes audacieuses et figures fantasmagoriques. Son art porte la même énergie ludique et inventive, puisant à la fois dans la spontanéité de l’enfance et la sophistication du surréalisme et du dadaïsme.
L’exposition Cowboys on the Moon en est un parfait exemple : deux symboles intemporels de l’imaginaire collectif — les cowboys, héros de l’aventure, et le voyage sur la lune, ultime exploration — réunis dans un décor improbable. Un mélange qui réveille en chacun de nous le goût de l’évasion et la capacité à rêver sans limites, et qui illustre à merveille la poésie décalée de Noel Fielding.
La peinture Bubblegum Cats in the Cinema de Fielding a fait la couverture du supplément Culture de Time Magazine. Son livre à succès The Scribblings of a Madcap Shambleton, rassemblant ses œuvres, a été publié chez Canongate. Plus récemment, Fielding a été invité à collaborer avec la maison Fendi, ses œuvres colorées étant déclinées dans l’ensemble de leur collection hivernale.

Fielding’s painting Bubblegum Cats in the Cinema featured on the front cover of Time Magazine’s Culture Supplement. His best-selling book of artworks, The Scribblings of a Madcap Shambleton, was published by Canongate.
Fielding was more recently asked to collaborate with Fendi, with his colorful artworks featured throughout their entire winter collection.
